"content_markdown": "About the practice\n\n \n\n# Jordan Anderson\n\n \n\n \n\nI work where a system’s stated purpose meets the details of how it operates.\n\n \n\n I build ML systems, fix software, and analyze industrial policy. The work starts with a concrete problem and ends with evidence and a next step. \n\n \n\n## From the implementation outward.\n\n \n\nMy technical work moves between machine learning systems, GPU kernels, and software security. I build [Loggetta](https://github.com/pjordanandrsn/loggetta) to plan and run large-model training, [experts4bit-qlora](https://github.com/pjordanandrsn/experts4bit-qlora) to load and fine-tune the models, and [grouped-nf4-gemm](https://github.com/pjordanandrsn/grouped-nf4-gemm) to compute directly on 4-bit weights.\n\n \n\nThe research lives at [Cerin Amroth](https://cerinamroth.com/), where measurements, limitations, and work still awaiting validation are documented together. This site brings that practice into conversation with policy and client work.\n\n \n\n## Institutions, at working distance.\n\n \n\nI serve on the board of Oteco, Inc., a Houston-based industrial manufacturer of high-pressure valves, connectors, and rig hardware founded in 1948. I also import small-volume specialty rum into the United States—the firsthand source of the regulatory questions explored in [Friction by Other Means](https://jordananderson.work/writing/friction-by-other-means).\n\n \n\nThat work informs my interest in industrial capability and institutional design. The technical practice builds toward a related aim: computation owned and controlled by the people who depend on it.\n\n \n\n## An earlier way of looking.\n\n \n\nBefore this work, I was a documentary and aerial photographer. My photography has been published by the United Nations, CNN, The Washington Post, Bild, ProPublica, The Texas Tribune, Texas Monthly, Rice University’s Kinder Institute, and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.\n\n \n\n [Discuss an engagement](https://jordananderson.work/#contact) [Read the essays](https://jordananderson.work/writing/)\n",
